Hunger is a real issue in Massachusetts. According to Project Bread, food insecurity is on the rise and has more than doubled from pre-pandemic levels. The increase is fueled by inflation and the loss of pandemic increases in SNAP and other food security assistance. We at Flying Carrot Farm believe that everyone should have access to fresh, locally grown food. We are raising funds to help low-income families off set the cost of CSA shares and home delivery fees. There are many barriers to accessing our CSA shares, including up front costs (we offer SNAP shares and payment plans to help with this), but also getting to the farm. We are not easily accessible by public transport and we are one of the few CSA farms around that participate in a SNAP/CSA program (allowing customers to use SNAP benefits to pay for their CSA share on a monthly basis). There is a real need to help make CSA shares and home delivery more accessible to low income families. Please help us make a dent in food insecurity in our area and donate if you can.
